A Weekend By The Sea
Apologies for the silence this past week, folks. School is in full swing, I was away for the weekend, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, and have battling a bit of a cold (pretty much the plague…). But fear not, regular postage will be resuming - starting with this here post about the trip I took this past weekend to the Ucluelet/Tofino area.
Since first year I’ve dreamed about taking a trip up island to Tofino in my last year at UVic. This past weekend that dream became a reality as together, a group of ten friends and I made our way to a beautiful cabin in the woods of Ucluelet, BC.
Check in wasn’t until 4, so we stopped in Cathedral Grove to stretch our legs and ooh and ahh at the massive trees surrounding us. I was blown away by the size of the trees there! We arrived at the cabin by about 330 but because we took multiple cars, the group wasn’t completely accounted for until about 6 oclock. Once we’d unpacked and got ourselves situated, we got dinner going, refuelled after the drive, and were all out by about midnight.
Saturday started bright and early as there was much to do on our only full day. After a breakfast of crepes, fruit, orange juice, and lots of coffee, we headed out the door and into Tofino where the majority of our group rented surf boards and hit the waves. The few of us that elected to stay out of the water decided instead to walk along Cox beach and Long Beach, head into the town of Tofino, and get back to the cabin before the rest of the group so we could nap and get some school work done.
Before checkout on Sunday morning, we ate a good breakfast, did a quick clean, and snapped a group photo before making our way back to Victoria and to the realities of school assignments and work…
