Tout de Sweet

For those of you that don’t know me personally, I’m actually made of about 90% sugar.  My favourite food group is candy and it’s the one you’re most likely find me eating at any given time.  So when I found out about Tout de Sweet here in Victoria, I knew I needed to pay them a visit. 

Made with organic ingredients and free of allergens, gluten, artificial anything, and corn products (with the exception of the popcorn) Tout de Sweet candy is a treat you can eat without feeling guilty! Well, kind of.  There’s still sugar in it but really, all the good stuff has it.  And trust me, this is the good stuff.  I was sent packing with a bag of goodies including the fruit chews (gone in an embarrassingly short amount of time), apple cinnamon caramels (party in my mouth), marshmallows (plopped in a hot chocolate and oh so heavenly), and bubblegum lollipops (so good). Everything I sampled I highly recommend and cannot wait to go back for more!

Jeanette Miller is the owner/operator/candy connoisseur and has got this candy making process down.  She walked me through the highly scientific process of candy making and explained just how many variables have to be taken into consideration when making candy. She also filled me in on a little secret: people are all concerned with red dye in food, when really, it’s the blue that should be feared.  That nasty colour not only stains your mouth, but it actually penetrates into your blood stream! EW! So, naturally, you won’t be finding any of that in Tout de Sweet candy! Talking to Jeanette really made me appreciate not only her incredible candy, but candy makers everywhere.  Without them, I truly don’t know how I’d survive!

The special thing about Tout de Sweet is that it makes candy available to everyone.  No matter your dietary needs, whether you’re gluten free, allergic to peanuts, vegetarian, or simply try to eat responsibly, there’s an excellent chance that you’ll be able to eat these goodies.
